I saw the rufous-collared Sparrow in Georgetown beginning at 10:20 and
heard it sing for 15 minutes. It was singing from behind the Buckley
Garage at the southeast corner of 7th and Rose and in the yard of the
gray and blue house at the northwest corner of 8th and Rose. It had
two song types. The one used most was a series of three whistled notes
with the second lower and the third between the other two. It also
sang with a very short trill-like 3 notes follwoed by the same
whistled note at the beginning of the other song. I listened to
several recordings on XenoCanto. There were 4 songs from Costa Rica
and it only matched the one by Daniel Lane. Also matched many
recordings from Colombia and Panama.Did not match any I listened to
from Vanezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, or Chile.
