A kind of strange day at the station.......lots of birds around, but not much
action in the nets. We ended up opening the Nature Center "feeder" nets to
supplement (with Red-winged Blackbirds and Cowbirds) the birds caught at the
station. Those captures did yield our first breeding condition female
Red-wingeds.....2 with full brood patches.

Also had our first Cedar Waxwing, and our 5th and 6th Northern Waterthrushes.
We have never had more than 1 in any prior year, and the total prior to this
year was 4.

Today's totals:

House Wren 1
Gray Catbird 3
Cedar Waxwing (FOS) 1
Yellow Warbler 3 new, 2 returns (both banded in 2010)
Northern Waterthrush 2
Common Yellowthroat 1
Spotted Towhee 3
Song Sparrow 2
Mountain White-crowned Sparrow 2
Red-winged Blackbird 4
Brown-headed Cowbird 4

Open through Monday, weather permitting!
