On 21 May 2011, Cole Wild and I birded from Denver to Grand Junction along I70,
camped overnight near the Utah border at Rabbit Valley campground. Then on 22
May 2011, we birded our way back to Larimer County via Rifle, Meeker, Craig,
Steamboat Springs and Walden. Highlights follow:

Georgetown (Clear Creek County): Rufous-collared Sparrow.. I asked it point
blank how it got there. It responded with a beautifully sung story, but
unfortunately it was in a language I did not understand.

Dillon neighborhood (Summit County): White-winged Crossbill – 1 f.

Eagle Rest Area (Eagle County): Summer Tanager female (photographed)

Colorado National Monument (Mesa County): Struck out on Black-chinned
Sparrow(s).

Colorado National Monument: Struck out again on Black-chinned Sparrow

Meeker (Rio Blanco County): Bobolink – 2 m. in grass fields south of town on
west side of Hwy 13

North of Meeker, near turnoff to Rangley: Hybrid Ring-necked Duck x Tufted (?)
Duck (see photos at link below)
