Greetings All,
This bird looks quite typical for a Western Gull, with no sign of GWGU introgression that I can detect. Telling wymani from the nominate race is tough, as the changes really are clinal. The difference from Lesser BB Gull are multiple, as outlined by outers. Big and bulky with short wings. Darkish eye (even some northern birds can have rather pale eyes. This bird's eye color is perfect for the northern (ie, nominate) race. Back not dark enough for LBBG (or Greater, for that matter) Pink legs Bright orange sizable bill. The wingtips are nice and dark, the mantle is dark, both of which would make GW Gull genes unlikely present. Great find Glenn. And nice photos Rachel.
