Two green oases in an otherwise parched habitat produced some unexpected birds today, Sunday, on the Chico Basin Ranch (fee area). El Paso County - Banding Station area Northern Cardinal -singing and a new ranch record, species #339, rare in El Paso County Blackpoll Warbler - singing and at times foraging on the ground Wilson's Warbler - singing Warbling Vireo - silent and not known to breed here Trail's Flycatcher - not calling or singing Pueblo County Headquarters Pond area White-rumped Sandpiper - 2 Black-necked Stilt - 1 -unusual here in June Common Nighthawk ~13 - 8 seen close enough for an I.D.
