If anyone in northern Colorado needs their annual spring chat and lazuli fix, I recommend the Hewlett Gulch Trail up the lower part of Poudre Canyon. This trail has consistently been good in early June for both Yellow-breasted Chat and Lazuli Bunting. This morning it did not disappoint. We saw at least six chats and an equal number of Lazuli buntings in the first mile and a quarter of the trail. Wonderful sounds of spring (especially with my new Lyric hearing aids)!
