Birders, This am I took a hike around North Table Mountain Park in north Golden hoping for some prairie species for Jeffco. The access and parking lot for the park is on HWY 93 just north of Golden on the east side of Hwy 93. The habitat looks great for Lark Bunting and Grasshopper Sparrow but to my dismay, I could not find either one. This is what I did find:
Red-tailed Hawk Killdeer Say's Phoebe Violet-green Swallow Tree Swallow Barn Swallow Rock Wren House Wren Horned Lark Sage Thrasher Robin House Finch American Goldfinch Virginia's Warbler Vesper Sparrow (nesting) Lark Sparrow Spotted Towhee Green-tailed Towhee Red-winged Blackbird Western Meadowlark Brewer's Blackbird Black-headed Grosbeak Bullock's Oriole There is water in scattered places on the mesa and it is a steep trail to get up there. The place looks like it has great potential but there is a lot of territory that is off limits. Take lots of water and sunscreen Ira Sanders Golden, CO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
