This afternoon (6/9), there were two Broad-winged Hawks in Welchester Tree Park (w. 8th Ave. west of Simms). One appears to be a juv. light-morph bird; the other appeared darker, but I didn't get a clear look at the breast. Both were very vocal, and on several occasions, were seen perched within a few feet of one another in the same tree. This is the same park where Norm Lewis (6/5) and Ira Sanders (6/6,8) have recently reported single Broad-wings. When they flew to new perches, they were quite easy to relocate by watching/listening for hoards of grackles "mobbing" them.
