Greetings All,

I awoke not to the partly cloudy skies that had been predicted, but to a light
chilly rain. Indeed, it made me feel like I was back in Seattle, where this
month is called Juneuary, and like Seattle, I could not see the mountains, even
though they were close. This might be true in Pasadena, CA, as well... but that
would be smog, not drizzle in the way.

But I digress...

So, thinking of how late this spring has been, I headed off to Crow Valley
instead of attending to errands.
Bad Boy.

Crow Valley was far from packed with either migrants or campers, but there was
a nice diversity of later-than-expected migrants. As for the campers, the
diversity seemed low.

Migrant (or likely migrant) list from Crow Valley includes:
Willow Flycatcher (1)
Red-eyed Vireo (1)
Plumbeous Vireo (1)
Red-breasted Nuthatch (migrant, whatever? -- 1)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (1)
Swainson's Thrush (Olive-backed, 2)
Gray Catbird (2)
American Redstart (female, 1)
Wilson's Warbler (1)
Yellow-breasted Chat (1)
Common Yellowthroat (1, well out-of-habitat)
Green-tailed Towhee (1)
Spotted Towhee (Rocky Mtn type- 1)
Lincoln's Sparrow (3)
Western Tanager (1)
Rose-breasted Grosbeak (1- female)

At Norma's Grove, just e. of roads 57 and 100:
4 Western Wood-Pewees (traveling as a group, working a fence line together,
nothing to suggest very early family group)
Willow Flycatcher (1)
Swainson's Thrush (1, Olive-backed)
Hermit Thrush (2, Interior Mountain.. that is usual.. type)

As for shorebirds,
A Stilt Sandpiper at Weld CR 59 ponds
A Whimbrel at Lower Latham (e. end of road running along s. side)
Female RN Phalarope (near Whimbrel)

A pretty interesting day.
Also, the various ponds visited se of Greeley yielded 57 BN Stilts!!!

Best Wishes and Good Cheer
