Staying with friends on their ranch west of Steamboat Springs, I ws surprised
to see two Eastern Kingbirds hop up on the wooden fence outside their deck.
They were beautiful and our hosts were delighted. They have Western Kingbirds,
but this ws new.
Maybe is is not unusual for them to be in Routt County, but it seemed pretty
far west to me. They are not birders, but can't help becoming such because of
Sandhill Cranes, Great Blue Herons, Bald Eagles, Meadowlarks, etc., etc. They
pointed out the white 'band' on the bottom of their tails.
Very nice.
