Hi all,

I have not posted before because this summer has been slow for hummers in my
yard. They arrived late and they are not in the numbers they have been in
previous summers. The wildflowers are so spectacular west of Littleton, in the
high country, that I think that may be where alot of the hummers might be.

So, instead of my usual quanity of 10-15 hummers in the yard, there is more
like 6-7 hummers in the yard. Please feel free to visit. I have had a resident
f. Broad-tailed, f. Black-chinned, and m. Broad-tailed Hummingbird in my yard
since May 15th. I'm quite sure the f. Black-chinned and f. Broad-tailed
hummingbirds nested somewhere near my house. I had 1, ad. m. Calliope arrive
about one and a half weeks ago, and stayed only 2 days. Then a second ad. m.
Calliope arrived Aug 1st and is still here. Only 3 Rufous hummers have been to
the yard. I've had 3 young Black-chinned Hummingbirds in the yard for the last
2 days, along with different aged Broad-tailed Hummingbirds.

Like in years past, please park on the *WEST side on Bow Mar Dr. half under the
Cottonwoods, opposite my house, which is 4400 Bow Mar Dr., Litleton, CO. Then
walk up the driveway past the mailbox. You will see the garage door. At the
garage door, go east into the patio. Please SIGN your name in the booklet,
which is on a chair, in the patio. Walk to the backyard, exiting out of the
patio to the right[not the left]. There are chairs in the back, and one hummer
feeder on the clothes line, and another in front of the chairs, near the bird
feeder.
DO NOT WALK around the yard because there are young House Wrens in the front
and back yard. Trust me, you will SEE more hummers if you sit still in the
chairs and they will probably feed on plants RIGHT next to you. There is a
feeder in the front yard hanging on the north end of the front porch. You can
sit in the chairs in the driveway[on the south end]. Usually hummers feed right
next to the chairs and you can see the feeder from the chairs.
Come very soon if you hope to see an ad. m. Calliope. Early morning and evening
are BEST times to visit, but the hummers are here all day.

*NOTE : New phone number. Please call 303-906-5479 to say when you might be
stopping by. You will get my phone machine. Do not wait for a reply. Just
come, but I would like you to *CALL FIRST to say you are coming. Please do not
come the evening of *8/8, monday night, because I have a class in my yard. You
can come 8/8, in the morning or daytime.

DIRECTIONS : Get to the intersection and stoplight at W. Quincy and S.
Sheridan. This is just south of Fort Logan Cemetary, about 2 city blocks. At
the intersection of S. Sheridan and W. Quincy, stay on S. Sheridan and at the
stoplight go south on S. Sheridan through the light. You will go south about 50
yards and will see a sign that says BOW MAR. At this sign take an immediate
right at a stop sign, onto Sunset. Go west on Sunset, about one mile until the
road ends and where you must turn south or north at a stopsign. Go right or
north at this stopsign onto Bow Mar Dr. My house is the first driveway on the
right. The mailbox has 4400 on it. If anyone has a disability they can drive up
my driveway but please do not park infront of the garage. One can mapquest my
address if you need more info

Sorry for the fact there are not as many hummers here, but I am glad there are
wildflowers in certain areas in CO, and that we have not had all the fires like
AZ has, has. Hummers in general migrating through AZ might have a hard time of
it, foodwise. Thank you for your patience, and good luck, Tina JonesLittleton,
Jefferson County, CO.
