Decided it was time to drive down to Turkey Creek Recreation Area on Highway
115, so that I could look for the Lewis's Woodpecker.

Glad I did! Not two minutes from the car, I saw one! Awesome! Number 264
on my life list.
Lewis's were everywhere!

Also saw:

Hawk, Redtail
Woodpecker, Downy
Goldfinch, Lesser
Sparrow, Lark
Sparrow, House
Sparrow, Chipping
Flicker, Northern
Bluebird, Western
Towhee, Spotted
Others that I couldn't identfy.
This is a nice birding area. Looks like it has tons of potential,
especially with the berry bushes that are everywhere.

Even before I got to the ranch, had an awesome sighting.
As I dropped down into the red rock canyon area of hwy 115, between mile
marker 37 and 36 (heading south),
I saw a black dog sitting just under a large tree in a pull off area.
Oops! Nice doggie! Not! It was a Black Bear cub!

Got it's picture. Tried to photograph it's ear tag so I could ask DOW where
he was tagged, but he ducked down a ditch
and into a tunnel under hwy 115 before I could get focused.

Excellent day!
