Sunday, August 28, we finally headed down to Penrose to try for the often reported Least Bittern pair at Holcim Marsh. Arriving at noon, we were not optimistic but settled in to wait for them to appear on the SW corner of the marsh. By the time we left an hour later, we had "logged" both adults and at least 2 (probably 3) fledglings. Take a cushion, that log gets pretty hard in short order but is now perfectly postioned for optimal viewing. Doug Kibbe and Mackenzie Goldthwait Littleton
