Banded 34 birds today, half of them Chipping Sparrows. Two more semi-rare
Warbler captures - a Tennessee and our third Northern Waterthrush of the
season. Also had a Downy and a Hairy in the hand at the same time; was
great to look at them side-by-side. The Downy kept a close watch on the
Hairy, while the Hairy completely ignored the little Downy.

For the second day in a row, about half of our birds were from the same
mixed flock - caught in the same net run in one or two adjacent nets. There
is a brief adrenaline rush when you are checking nets and have almost
nothing, and then come to a net with a dozen or more birds.

Rundown for the day:

Downy Woodpecker 1

Hairy Woodpecker 1

Willow Flycatcher 1

House Wren 1

Orange-crowned Warbler 2

Tennessee Warbler 1

Yellow Warbler 1

Northern Waterthrush 1

Common Yellowthroat 1

Wilson's Warbler 6

you know next week's closed day tomorrow.
