Greetings,

Today I had the pleasure of joining Joey Kellner and Glenn Walbeck as we
trekked from Norma's Grove and Crow Valley s. to Last Chance, and then to a
private ranch in Lincoln County.

To skip to the highlight, there was a very cooperative Canada Warbler at Last
Chance, photos of which can be viewed at
http://www.pbase.com/gwalbek/2011_birds

The number of woodland birds (warblers in particular, less so flycatchers) was
low, but the assortment entertaining.
Near Norma's Grove, there was a modestly early GT Towhee
At Crow Valley we had 3 Least Flycatchers, 3 Black-and-white Warblers, 2
Red-eyed Vireos, and 4 American Redstarts.
At Last Chance, in addition to the Canada Warbler, there were SEVEN American
Redstarts
The ranch in Lincoln County had a Baltimore Oriole, Great-crested Flycatcher,
singleton Gray and Least Flycatchers, Lesser Goldfinch, 2 RB Nuthatches, BG
Gnatcatcher, and 4 more American Redstarts.

Our warbler list, beyond what was mentioned above, only included Audubon's
Warbler (1), Wilson's Warbler and Yellow Warbler (fewer than 25 each), 3 or so
Townsend's Warblers, and 2 YB Chats.

We had only 3 or so Warbling Vireos

Empids were better represented with totals of about 6 Hammond's, 4 Duskies, 4
Willows, and 6 unidentified in addition to those above. We also had about 10
pewees and 4 OSFLs today.
