Greetings All,

Today I went to TIMNATH RESERVOIR after birding Crow Valley (see below). Among
the continuing throngs of A White Pelicans, DC Cormorants, Cal and RB Gulls,
Snowy Egrets, Western Grebes, PB Grebes, and Canada Geese was a fair number of
Franklin's Gulls (couple hundred) and one juv SABINE'S GULL. Though there is
much tasty appearing shorebird habitat at Timnath, the place seems to repulse
them, and I saw nary a shorebird upon its shores.

CROW VALLEY did not have the rain-induced fallout I'd hoped for, possibly
because clouds cleared in middle of night. I arrived at sunrise to watch > 100
robins depart to the se. in small groups and about 15 W Kingbirds do the same.

The most interesting finds were-
A goodly count of 5 Plumbeous Vireos
A Cassin's Vireo
A modestly early Mountain WC Sparrow
Borderline late Orchard Orioles (4) and Blue Grosbeak (1)
My first OC Warbler of the fall
3 Red-breasted Nuthatches

There were only 3 Yellow Warblers and 12 Wilson's.

Flycatchers, however, were present in good numbers
OS Fly: 1
WW Pewee: 16
Willow Fly: 2, both dull western types with short primaries
Alder/Willow Fly: 1
Least Fly: 3
Hammond's Fly: 3
Dusky Fly: 2
W Kingbird: 15
No E Kingbirds or Say's Phoebes, there, anyway. Empids very cooperative, often
calling. Some of pewees were actually vocalizing with some frequency.

Notably, though some of the migrants were in the campground during the first
hour of light, thereafter nearly all warblers/flycatchers/vireos were in the
Russian olives and willows to the north of the campground, often feeding quite
low.

WINDSOR LAKE is nearly birdless

McINTOSH RESERVOIR in Longmont had 4 CATTLE EGRETS, but they flew off to the
se. whilst I was there.

Good Birding
