We had an exciting day of banding. Snow fell overnight on the mountains. Down in Ridgway, it started out warm but did not get much warmer. We caught our highest number of birds so far, a glorious 19. We caught four new species for the season: Green-tailed Towhee, Western Tanager, Mountain White-crowned Sparrow, and (our final bird of the day) a Northern Pygmy-Owl. Coen Dexter and Bill Day saw a Yellow-throated Vireo nearby, but they were not able to coax it into the net. This brings our number of individuals to 105 and species to 24.
