I made a quick trip up to Boulder Reservoir to take a look for the red phal. Unlike most such excursions that I make, I was successful. The bird was seen from the path/road on the dam. It was hanging around in the general vicinity of the northmost couple of floating (fishing?) platforms. There were a couple of eared (? educated guess based on shape and what I could see of facial pattern) grebes and a small group of westerns (none of which I could turn into Clark's, in spite of a pretty good effort!) nearby, but not much else. The phalarope was more than worth the trip, though- thanx to Christian for turning up this nifty bird.

Warning- the bird is tiny and hanging around about 300 yards offshore, so you are likely to sprain an eyeball brying to see it well enough to confirm ID!
