Arapahoe County:
--A RED-THROATED LOON and 3 Surf Scoters were reported by Walbek at
Cherry Creek SP on October 17.  The loon was by the Lake Loop and the
scoters were in the middle of the lake.   On October 19, Kennedy
reported that the RED-THROATED LOON continues at Cherry Creek.
--A Black-throated Blue Warbler was reported by Clum on the Highline
Canal Trail near I-25 and Yale on October 18.
--A Pacific Loon and NEOTROPIC CORMORANT were reported by Kelly at
Cherry Creek SP on October 22. The loon was viewed from east of
Prairie Loop along the Nature Trail.

Boulder County:
--Nick Moore spotted a tern at Boulder Reservoir on October 18, which
Nunes confirmed is a juv ARCTIC TERN.  Moore and Nunes and several
other birders observed the ARCTIC TERN at Boulder Reservoir on October
19.  Schmoker reported on October 22 that the ARCTIC TERN continues
at Boulder Reservoir in the NW cove in the gull roost.
--A Red-necked Grebe was reported by Pieplow at Boulder Reservoir on October 20.
--On October 21, Kilpatrick reported ARCTIC TERN and Red-necked Grebe
on north side of Boulder Reservoir.
--1 Black Scoter and 3 Surf Scoters were found by Mlodinow on Ish
Reservoir on October 22.

Garfield County:
--A female Surf Scoter was reported by Dahl on Rifle Gap Reservoir at
the east end on October 20.

Larimer County:
--A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Shade at the YMCA Feeders in
Estes Park on October 19.
--An American Three-toed Woodpecker was reported by Arnold at Estes
Cone -- 2.6 miles on the Long's Peak Trail from the Ranger Station on
October 21.

Park County:
--At Spinney Mountain Reservoir on October 22, Kellner reported 1 imm
White-winged Scoter and 2 imm Surf Scoters.
--At Antero Reservoir on October 22, Kellner reported 3 Surf Scoters
(1 imm, 2 ad males).

Prowers County:
--An "eastern" Field Sparrow was reported by Leatherman at the Truck
Bypass on October 19.
--At LCCW on October 19, Leatherman reported 1 "western" Field
Sparrow, 1 "tan-striped" White-throated Sparrow, 1 Swamp Sparrow, 3
Northern Cardinals, and 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker.
--2 Chihuahuan Ravens were reported by Leatherman on CR SS east of CR
8 on October 20.
--At LCCW on October 20, Leatherman reported 1-2 Nashville Warblers,
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW, a pair of Northern Cardinals, 2 White-throated
Sparrows (1a, 1i).
--A White-winged Dove was reported by Leatherman in the Willow Valley
Subdivision of Lamar on October 22.
The subdivision is E of Willow Creek Park.

Pueblo County:
--A juv LONG-TAILED JAEGER was reported by Percival at the SWA of
Pueblo Reservoir on October 13.  The LONG-TAILED JAEGER was seen on
October 14 by several birders, looking west from SWA on the NW side of
Pueblo Reservoir.  On October 17, Percival observed the jaeger from the
middle parking area of the SWA that looks west.  Joy reported seeing
the LONG-TAILED JAEGER from West Fisherman's Point on October 19.
On  October 21, Percival reported the Jaeger from West Fisherman's
Road looking west.
--A m Northern Cardinal  and f Summer Tanager were reported by
Percival west of Valco Ponds parking lot between the parking lot and
fish hatchery ponds on October 18.  On October 19 from west of Valco
Ponds parking lot, Percival reported a f SCARLET TANAGER,  f Summer
Tanager, m Northern Cardinal, and 2 White-throated Sparrows.  The
SCARLET TANAGER was west
of Valco Ponds parking lot on October 22 as reported by Chartier.  2
male Northern Cardinals and 2 White-throated Sparrows were reported by
Chartier at Valco Ponds on October 22.
--A male Hooded Warbler was reported by Percival at Valco Ponds in the
first parking lot behind restroom on October 20.  Percival also
reported a White-throated Sparrow west of the Valco Ponds parking lot
on October 20.  The Hooded Warbler was seen again by Percival on
October 21.  The Hooded Warbler was refound by Chartier on October 22.
--1 imm White-throated Sparrow was reported by Percival west of the
Pueblo Nature Center near the Arkansas River on October 22.

Washington County:
--An American Golden-Plover was reported by Tina Jones in the SW
corner of Prewitt on October 20.

Weld County:
--A f Surf Scoter and Red-necked Grebe were reported by Mlodinow at
Union Reservoir on October 20.
--A Pacific Loon was reported by Teuton at Union Reservoir on October
22, it is best viewed from SW corner.
--A f Red-bellied Woodpecker was reported by Wilberding in the NW
corner of Crow Valley CG on October 22.

The DFO Field Trip for Sunday, October 23 will be to Jackson and
Prewitt Reservoirs led by Norm Erthal (303-917-2569 or
[email protected]).  Meet at 0700 at Division of Wildlife, 6060 No.
Broadway.  Take 58th Ave exit from I-25, go west 1 block to Broadway,
then north 2 blocks to parking lot on the right.  Participants will
need an Annual SWA permit per person and a State Parks Pass.  All day
trip so bring lunch, snacks, water, good walking shoes, and
appropriate clothing.  Please contact the leader if you are interested
in attending and if cancel your attendance.

The next monthly meeting of Denver Field Ornithologists will be on
Monday, October 24 at 7:30 pm at Ricketson Auditorium of the Denver
Museum of Nature and Science.  Charles Thornton-Kolbe will talk about
"Birding Tourism".
