Greetings All,

Sorry for lumping all of this together, but it is 1 am, and I'll be getting up
in 5 short hours.
Christian Nunes and I spent a fun weekend birding together, joined today by
Nick Moore.

Saturday, 5 November, we started in Lyons and did a circuit up to Tinmath Res,
down to LUNA Res, and back around to Boulder Res.
Highlights included
PINYON JAYS, n. of the west end of Apple Valley Road, near the Larimer County
border
TOWNSEND'S WARBLER, 1 in Lyons along Old St Vrain Rd
LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, 4 (3 adults and a 2nd year) at Tinmath Res
THAYER'S GULL, 1 adult, at Tinmath Res
ROSS'S GOOSE, 1 imm at Tinmath Res
GREATER SCAUP, 1 male at LUNA Res

We also had large numbers of Lesser Canada Geese (parvipes) and smaller numbers
of Cackling Geese seemingly freshly arrived, and a couple Lapland Longspurs
around Tinmath.

Today, in lovely crisp sunny fall weather, our highlights were:
Prewitt Res:
3 COMMON LOONS
1 THAYER'S GULL
1 RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER
2 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS
and also of note, 115 White Pelicans, 9 Greater Yellowlegs, and 3 Ferruginous
Hawks

At Sand Draw SWA, s. of Julesburg:
1 BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE
1 GRAY CATBIRD
2 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS
1 BROWN CREEPER
3 HARRIS'S SPARROWS
and >100 juncos, with estimated numbers at 98 Slate-coloreds, 49 Pink-sideds,
15 Oregons, 4 Cassiar's, and 3 White-wingeds.
Perhaps of some interest would also be 2 Townsend's Solitaires and a Pine Siskin

At Jumbo Reservoir:
6 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS (all female/immature types, all in Sedgwick)
1 late CHESTNUT-COLLARED LONGSPUR
and a large collection of waterfowl on the county line, approximately,
including estimated
2000 Snow Geese
250 Ross's Geese
140 Cackling Geese
2300 Redhead
1700 Lesser Scaup
800 Gadwall
800 N Shoveler
800 Mallards

Other birds of some interest included several dozen White Pelicans, a couple
mildly late/easterly Cal Gulls, 9 Red-breasted Mergs, and a Clark's x Western
Grebe among several hundred Westerns and a few Clark's.

Finally, at Red Lion SWA
1 COMMON LOON
1 HARRIS'S SPARROW

American Tree Sparrows were seemingly everywhere, and WC Sparrows were not.
Lapland Longspurs, in ones and twos were heard numerous times throughout the
day, and a RL Hawk was over the interstate near Ovid.
