Greetings All,
Sorry for the delayed post. Yesterday, at Chatfield, Allison Hilf and I saw the POMARINE JAEGER from the handicapped boat launch/fishing pier (where it has been seen of late). Notably, it spend a lot of time flying quite high around the dam -- above the horizon. So, if looking for the bird, look up and far, though it did at times come closer. In the nearby woodlot, there was a calling EASTERN WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH. An adult GLAUCOUS GULL flew by whilst we were looking for the jaeger as well Also at Chatfield, at "The Point" in Jefferson County we saw a presumably 1st winter GLAUCOUS GULL (can't be certain not second) and a juv THAYER'S GULL. In Aurora, at Los Ninos Park (at previously described location) we re-located the VARIED THRUSH. Birds were keeping quiet in this area due to the daylong presence of a Merlin and a Sharp-shinned Hawk. 2 COMMON LOONS were at Chatfield and one was at Cherry Creek along with a lonely looking Am White Pelican Good Birding, Steven Mlodinow Longmont, CO -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Colorado Birds" group.
