Birding was excellent this morning at Chatfield State Park....

Brant – 2, right below Heron Overlook platform, still there through 10:30am
Lapland Longspur – 2, at model airplane field, with dozens of Horned Larks
Glaucous Gull – 1, probable 1st winter, near north boat ramp at west end of dam
Lesser Black-backed Gull – 1, 1st winter juvenile, south marina sandspit
Red-breasted Merganser – 1, out on the lake amongst all the Commons, probably 
more of them out there

Other notables.....
Common Merganser – at least 1000 birds on the lake
Bald Eagle – 2, 1 adult, 1 juvenile
Lots of waterfowl – Redheads, Northern Pintails, Lesser Scaup, Common 
Goldeneyes, Gadwalls, American Wigeons, etc.
Lots of gulls – many Herring Gulls, >1000 Ring-billed Gulls
Northern Shrike - 1, probable, poor look flying away
