Cobirders, Yesterday (12/9) around 11 am I found a Winter Wren along Boulder Creek just west of 75th and south of Jay Rd. For about 30 minutes I watched it pop in and out of view, feeding in one of the Sewage treatment plant outlets (the second one in from the 75th trailhead). After having looked for Winter Wren at this location at least 15 to 20 times, it was quite a special experience to find and spend a while observing it. I recorded some video of it calling.
Other recent Boulder sightings (hope they stick around for the CBC): 1 Merlin, Dakota Ridge trail, Mt. Sanitas, 12/8 At my feeders just below Mt. Sanitas: 9 Lesser Goldfinches, 12/6-10 36 Pine Siskins, continuing since 12/6 1 American Tree Sparrow, 12/3 (yard bird) 2 Cassin's Finches (1m, 1f or 1st yr), 10/26-27 (yard birds) during the first big snowfall of the season 1 Interesting DE (Slate-colored) Junco with symmetrical white lines below the eyes (is there an official term for this marking? subloral, subcilial, auricular?)
