My daughter, Robyn, just informed me that she saw an Osprey sitting on the Osprey nest platform at the Junction of new 287 (the La Porte Bypass) and Old 287 in north Fort Collins (just west of Shields on 287)b. While Osprey are common at that site during the nesting season, it is quite odd to have one here at this time of year. The Fort Collins Christmas Bird Count documented its first Osprey (actually 2 or 3) for the count since it inception in 1947. I suspect that this is one. Who knows, maybe they will become year-round residents.
