Greetings All,

In the Pacific Northwest, Snowy Owls are often quite social in winter. For
instance, 8 birds hung out at a place called "The Big Ditch" for a few weeks.
Suddenly, they disappeared. A few days later, at the other edge of the town of
Stanwood (about 5 miles away or so), all 8 Snowy Owls were found. It is
unlikely that there were two different sets of 8 Snowy Owls, especially as none
were present at the second place a couple weeks earlier.

Also, along Boundary Bay near Vancouver, BC, I once saw ~30 Snowy Owls in a one
mile or so stretch of waterfront. Few were elsewhere along the very long
stretch of waterfront, much of which seemed to have good habitat. Aggressive
interactions were infrequent, and birds roosting on the same log was common (as
was so with the Stanwood birds in Washington).

Just as an FYI

Cheers
