In keeping with my own request of a couple days ago, I am reporting
spotting this shy bird today. It was in the bushes just on the other
side of the fence on the south side of the parking lot. It never went
under the cedars. It was staying with a smaller sparrow that I could
not id, perhaps the juv, and a small robin. During 45 min of trying to
get a good look I only had 2 short looks at the crown. It was very
quiet in the relatively thick bushes. I noted the lighter color of the
lower mandible, which is not indicated in Sibley for non-breeding. I
also could swear that I saw a tiny yellow spot on the center of the
throat (underside).
