In keeping with my own request of a couple days ago, I am reporting spotting this shy bird today. It was in the bushes just on the other side of the fence on the south side of the parking lot. It never went under the cedars. It was staying with a smaller sparrow that I could not id, perhaps the juv, and a small robin. During 45 min of trying to get a good look I only had 2 short looks at the crown. It was very quiet in the relatively thick bushes. I noted the lighter color of the lower mandible, which is not indicated in Sibley for non-breeding. I also could swear that I saw a tiny yellow spot on the center of the throat (underside).
