A pair of Brown Thrashers have been coming to a feeder since mid-December at
the home of a friend of mine in Poudre Canyon, just west of Rustic.  She has
sent me authenticating photos, which though distant and blurry are clearly of a
Brown Thrasher.  Bill shape, spotting on breast, rusty brown color, long tail,
etc. are all visible.  To my knowledge, this is highly unusual.  In fact, I
think Brown Thrashers are unusual anywhere in Larimer County and especially so
in the foothills in mid-winter.  I will be happy to share with my friend any
comments others may have on this occurance.
