Nancy and I drove across northern Weld County today on the off chance that we might find a Snowy Owl. We did not. But to our great surprise we came across a flock of about 50 Gray-crowned Rosy-finches in the dry bed of Cow Creek where it crosses WCR 128, about 10 miles east of I-25 and 5 miles south of the Wyoming border. We also had good looks at 2 Rough-legged Hawks, including one beautiful dark morph.
