I’m thinking about taking a birding trip during the second half of
April down to Texas. I’d be driving and spending the nights in hotels
and some tent camping. I’m looking for anyone that might be thinking
of doing a similar trip at the same time who would want to carpool and
share gas and/or lodging/expenses. Here are some of the tentative
logistics:
Dates: April 15th, Sunday – Leave Denver
Start at Houston/Galveston (1 or 2 days)
Corpus Christi Area (1 or 2 days)
Lower Rio Grande Valley from East to West (3 to 5 days – hit all the
hotspots)
Head up the Mexican border to Big Bend N.P. (birding along the way,
then 1 or 2 days at BBNP).
Here, I’ll be on a blatant search for Colima Warbler.
>From here, either head back to Denver, or find a few stops along the
way if there is still time (whether in TX or NM or elsewhere).
Arrival back in Denver will be anywhere from the 27th or 28th which is
what I’m shooting for; or as late as May 1st, Tuesday (I’m off work
until the 2nd of May).
I’m planning on doing at least a little bit of night birding if I can,
and any mega birds that might be in the area may have to be chased.
If you’re at all interested in going, but have some other ideas about
locations or times, feel free to ask. For the money it will save me,
I’m willing to be flexible. Thanks for the time.
