The Roadrunner was observed by myself, Mark Amershak, Edward Donnan
and three other birders from 12:30-1:30 actively feeding in the area
between CR93 and Alameda, not on the ridge as usual , on the grassy
slope down the hill from Alameda. When first seen the bird was
sunning on a light colored rock for 10 minutes give or take and then
became very active zig zagging up and down the slope pecking at grass
clumps and around Yucca plants. One gentleman that ventured down to
get better photos said the bird appeared to be eating earth worms and
small grasshoppers. At one point near a tuft of grass the bird
plucked something from mid air, possibly a grasshopper.
