Greetings All,

Near the intersection of Arapahoe and US-287, behind the Safeway, is Erie Res.
It, for some reason, is more open than in months.
Prince Pond #1 is nearly frozen, its aerator no longer operational.

At Erie Res, there were about 2000 gulls, including
2 Glaucous (1st and 2nd year birds)
8 Thayer's
3 Lesser Black-backed
2 Cal Gulls
30+ Herring Gulls.

2 Harlan's Hawks were also in the trees around the reservoir
Great viewing conditions as birds fairly tame and there is a walkway all around
the pond.

The Anthem and Sienna Ponds were dead, though on HWY 7 just w. of the Anthem
Ponds, there was a light morph RL Hawk.
About 1/2 mile past the "usual" gull pond at Anthem, there is another pond,
partly frozen. It was filled with geese including 2 Snows. More interestingly,
there were at least 15 Taverner's Cackling Geese among them, mostly in family
groups.

This is about the time of year they start to migrate in eastern WA (they state
from which I moved here from), so ?

Cheers
