Today we headed to Crow Valley Campground (Pawnee Buttes National Grasslands) in search of rare birds. At the camp we found: 2 Northern Shrikes 35 American Goldfinches 1 Rough-legged Hawk 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker (off to the left of where the road turns to dirt) 1 Great-horned Owl 1 Toundsand's Solitare In search of longspurs and raptors we headed to the Auto Tour Road, here we found: 23 Horned Larks 1 Ferrugenous Hawk (Juv. Bird) 1 Rough-legged Hawk 1 Northern Shrike Overall very little numbers of birds today. Thank you to Dave Leatherman for the tip about the woodpecker being there. Have fun birding Skyler Bol Ft.
