Today we headed to Crow Valley Campground (Pawnee Buttes National
Grasslands) in search of rare birds. At the camp we found:
2 Northern Shrikes
35 American Goldfinches
1 Rough-legged Hawk
1 Red-bellied Woodpecker (off to the left of where the road turns to
dirt)
1 Great-horned Owl
1 Toundsand's Solitare
In search of longspurs and raptors we headed to the Auto Tour Road,
here we found:
23 Horned Larks
1 Ferrugenous Hawk (Juv. Bird)
1 Rough-legged Hawk
1 Northern Shrike
Overall very little numbers of birds today. Thank you to Dave
Leatherman for the tip about the woodpecker being there.
Have fun birding
