Hi cobirders, I went to Denver City Park at the pond just outside
of the zoo. The Long-tailed Duck was long gone.
I counted 64 Double-crested Cormorants most of them in nests in
pairs. They have been back at least a week. A few were
on the log in the pond and flying around. There were over 30 nests
in the trees not occupied yet.
There were not a lot of waterfowl on the pond. About dozen American
Coot scattered about. A pair of Gadwall, a Pied-billed Grebe,
a male Ring-billed Duck with 2 females near by, 3 Mallard males and a
female. Yes 3 Canada Geese not part of the hundreds in the park.
Tina my helper met me there at 10 AM . She is learning birds and
doing very well. Man by name of Saul is learning birds also stopped by.
I left at 11:15 AM .
Birds are getting a jump on spring.
