It was near the bank of Cottonwood Creek visible from the path heading east before wooden foot bridge. Archuleta County: --A pair of Black Phoebes were reported by Morris in the Watchable Wildlife Area near Piedra Bridge on April 21. Bent County: --At Tempel Grove on April 18, Duane Nelson reported a singing male Northern Parula and a vocal White-eyed Vireo. Nelson also reported that a pair of Eastern Phoebes is nesting under the bridge at Tempel Grove. On April 21, Chartier reported Eastern Phoebe and Hooded Warbler at Tempel Grove. -At John Martin on April 18, Nelson reported a breeding plumaged Pacific Loon, a 2-nd winter GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL on the north side, and 6 Piping Plovers have returned in areas protected by closures. Boulder County: --The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW continues at the Teller Farm North Parking Lot as reported by Tumasonis on April 15. --A calling dark-morph Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Floyd at Walden Ponds on April 15. --A singing Black-and-White Warbler was reported by Floyd at Greenlee Preserve on April 17 and was refound by Hansley on April 18. --At Golden Ponds in Longmont on April 19, Mlodinow reported a Northern Parula at the eastern edge of the eastern pond and a Broad-winged Hawk circling above. Denver County: --A RED-THROATED LOON was reported by Kibbe at Marston Reservoir on April 18. It was visible from S Wadsworth extension on the western side of the reservoir. On April 19 Roller refound the RED-THROATED LOON seen from south side. Douglas/Jefferson Counties: --On April 16, Kibbe reported that both pairs of Eastern Phoebes at Chatfield continued and appeared to have build nests. One pair is at Plum Creek at Phoebe Bridge and the other pair is at Kingfisher Bridge. Eagle County: --10 Barrow's Goldeneyes were reported by Filby at Spring Park Reservoir on April 20. El Paso County: --At Chico Basin (El Paso) on April 20, Percival reported a LUCY'S WARBLER around the banding station barn and a Hooded Warbler by the Big Willow. Note that Chico Basin Ranch is a fee area. Neither warbler was found on April 21. --A Green Heron was reported by Kosar at Fountain Creek RP on April 21. Jefferson County: --The GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW at Red Rocks Trading Post feeders continued to be seen through April 15, as reported by Henwood. --A Slate-colored Fox Sparrow was reported by Henwood at Red Rocks Trading Post feeders on April 14. The Fox Sparrow was seen again by Pasquariello on April 15. --A Broad-winged Hawk was reported by Slingsby at the Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch on April 17. On April 18, Hyypio reported 5 Broad-winged Hawks at the Dinosaur Ridge Hawk Watch. On April 19, Rouch reported 1 Broad-winged Hawk at the Hawk Watch. La Plata County: --A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Allerton at Pastorius Reservoir on April 15. Las Animas County: --A Hooded Warbler was reported by Deininger in willows next to the Parking Lot of Long's Canyon on April 21. Mesa County: --A singing BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW was reported by Arnold in Devils Kitchen in Colorado National Monument on April 9. Arnold refound the BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW on April 12 with possibly a second bird. On April 14, Dodson refound BLACK-CHINNED SPARROW and possibly a second bird. Larry and Missy Arnold refound BLACK-CHINNED SPARROWS on April 19. Missy saw two BLACK-CHINNED SPARROWS. --A winter Wren was reported by Mlodinow on the south side of CR 141 at mile marker 143 on April 21. --A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Mlodinow at Highline Lake SP on April 21. Moffat County: --A GLOSSY IBIS was reported by Dodson at a pond just east of Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig on April 15. Montrose County: --A Black Phoebe was reported by Horn along the San Miguel River between Uravan and the confluence of the Dolores River on April 15. On April 16, Dexter reported a dozen Black Phoebes along the San Miguel between Uravan and Nucla. --On April 19 NW of Nucla, Dexter reported a new nest site for Black Phoebe and a singing Black-throated Gray Warbler. --On April 20, Dexter reported that a few of the Black Phoebes along the San Miguel are on nest and several Black-throated Gray Warblers were singing. Montezuma County: --A Greater Roadrunner was reported by Meyer in the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument which is west of Cortez on April 16. The bird was 3.57 miles in from the Sand Canyon Trailhead on Rock Creek. Pueblo County: --An ad LAUGHING GULL was reported by Percival flying over N Picnic Road at Pueblo Reservoir on April 14. --A singing Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported by Percival at Osprey Picnic Area in Rock Canyon below Pueblo Reservoir Dam on April 16. --A singing Worm-eating Warbler was reported by Percival along the Frisbee Golf Course Creek (west side) in Pueblo City Park on April 21. Upcoming DFO Field Trips: The DFO field trip for Sunday, April 22 will be to Rocky Mountain Arsenal led by David Rhoades (303-424-8633). Will bird from 0800 - 1300, expecting to see grassland birds, ducks, raptors, possible early migrants, likely swallows and possible burrowing owls.
