Greetings, At about 9 am today, I saw a burrowing owl at Cherry Creek State Park. I have heard of them nesting there some years, but had never seen one there before. It was in the prairie dog town in the field south of Belleview and west of Peoria. You can access this field by walking south from the main road at the Cottonwood Creek trailhead or by entering the park from a hiking trail off Cherry Creek Drive and Berry. This is north of Orchard Rd. and south of Belleview. About an hour earlier, I saw a ring-necked pheasant in the same field.
