It was along the shore and on the island of Heron Lake. Lowell Ponds is at 56th and Lowell. Arapahoe County: --A Green Heron was reported by Wait on the East Trail in South Platte Park on July 14. It was S of Mineral in the very east side of the park in the wetlands area. Conjeos County: --A m Rose-breasted Grosbeak was reported by Lisa Rawinski west of Pike's Stockade on July 11. She reports that the area is full of bugs and rattlesnakes. El Paso County: --A Green Heron was reported by Koehn at Rice's Pond at Fountain Creek Regional Park on July 20. Kiowa County: --Lots of Snowy Plovers were reported by Percival at Neenoshe Reservoir on July 15. Larimer County: --A f MAGNIFICENT HUMMINGBIRD was spotted by Maggie Boswell at a feeder at Tunnel Campground on July 16. Tunnel Campground is approximately six miles north Hwy 14 on Laramie River Road and is a fee area. Be aware of the possibility of mudslides on Hwy 14 if it rains. Logan County: --At Tamarack Ranch (west) on July 19, Mlodinow reported: Bell's Vireos, Field Sparrow, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and Great Crested Flycatcher. Mesa County: --Purple Martins were reported by Arnold at Collbran on July 19. Otero County: --Lots of Snowy Plovers were reported by Perival at Lake Cheraw on July 15. --At Lake Holbrook on July 15, Percival reported NEOTROPIC CORMORANT and 2 ad LAUGHING GULLS. Ouray County: --A family of four Black Phoebe was reported by Kent Nelson at Bill Creek SWA bridge on Uncompahgre River on July 19. Prowers County: --A Green Heron was reported by Percival at Higbee SWA on July 15. Pueblo County: --2 ACORN WOODPECKERS first reported by Van Manen in Pueblo Mountain Park on June 16 were relocated by Kaempfer on July 20. Kaempfer also reported that the Grace's Warblers continue at Pueblo Mountain Park on July 20. San Juan County: --A Fox Sparrow was reported by Morris on Upper Lime Creek Road on July 14. It was seen by the Durango Bird Club field trip to Ridgeway SP. Weld County: --Two Mississippi Kites were reported by Lefko at Glenmere Park in Greeley with nesting material on July 15. On July 17, France and Roller reported several Mississippi Kites, Roller had 5. Leatherman reported on July 20 that the 2 ad Mississippi Kites along with 3 imm continue at Glenmere Park. On July 21, Oberbeck reported 2 Mississippi Kites at Glenmere Park. The DFO field trip for Sunday, July 22 will be to the Lyons area led by Raymond Davis (303-823-5332). Meet at Lyons Park-n-Ride just south of 4th and Main St. (by the skateboard park and library) at 0830. Plan on walking level ground for a mile or three, a bit of car birding, and then, eating lunch on Davis's decks until we get bored. Good photo opportunities likely. Wheelchair accessible. The DFO field trip for Thursday, July 26 will be to Mount Evans area led by Bob Shade 303-975-2476 or cell 720-256-4376. Meet at 0730 at Filius Park. From Denver, head West on I-70. Take Exit 252 and follow the Evergreen Parkway/CO 74 in a westerly direction 2.5 miles to Bergen Park intersection. Turn right and immediately find Filius Park entrance and parking lot. Will meet and arrange car-pooling for the ten mile drive toward Mt Evans. Bring lunch and clothes for all kinds of weather. Will bird until about mid-afternoon. Please call Bob if you plan to come. The DFO field trip for Saturday, July 28 will be to Filius and other foothill Parks led by Lynn Willcockson 303-757-7000. Meet at 0800 at Filius Park. From Denver, head W on I-70. Take Exit 252 to hwy 74. Follow 74 about a mile and a half to entrance to the park. Will start here and explore other nearby parks. Bring lunch, will bird until about 1400. The DFO field trip for Sunday, July 29 will be to Shrine Ridge and Summit County led by Rhonda Kelly 303-386-2311. Meet at 0630 at the I-70 T-Rex parking lot. Go west on I-70 to Exit 259, turn right at light then right again into the T-Rex Parking Lot. Carpooling will be arranged there. Full day trip (back by 1600). Bring lunch, clothing for changeable weather at around 11000 ft. The trail crosses some wetlands and a treed meadow area.
