Took some out of town friends birding at Manitou Lake yesterday. Don't
usually bird there in August, things are usually dead. Boy was I wrong.

 

I added species #152 and 153 to the lake (over a 24 year span).

 

I stumbled across a male Indigo Bunting in the willows and got a couple of
pics. Never expected to find one of those up here. See photo here

Also, saw 3 White-winged Doves flying around on the west side of the lake
from the ponderosas at the south end; then across Hwy 67 to the west and the
small residential pond SW of the lake. Another "did not expect to see those
here" sighting.

 

Yellow-rumped Warblers seemed to be moving through in small waves. And there
may have been a Brewer's Sparrow or three in amongst the imm Chippies, but I
didn't get a good enough look or photo to differentiate.
