Sarah Burbank and I went to find this beautiful bird this morning. We walked
along the dirt path by the fence as previously described, but didn't go far
enough initially. We were on the opposite side of the park, up on a hill when
Sarah spotted some folks on the other side that were obviously seeing something
interesting! If you go there continue walking past the white fencing, somewhat
down the hill. It was in a Russian Olive at first, flew away into some
cattails. A little bit later it flew back our way and onto fencing. We got
really superb looks at it. It dropped to the ground a couple times, fanning
out that wonderful tail, until finally flying off to the south east. This was
about 8:15 this morning. We also had a Wilson's Warbler, Chipping Sparrows,
Kestrel pair, Magpies, Starlings, Blue Jay, White Breasted Nuthatch, BC
Chickadees and an intergrade (is that the correct word?) male Northern Flicker
with a red moustache but yellow feathers. A nice morning out! Lauren
