Another cold morning, but at least no wind today, allowing us to keep the
station open all morning. We are continuing to enjoy a nice mix of late
fall migrants and potential winter residents, with lots of conversations
about the various subspecies/races of yellow-rumped warblers and dark-eyed
juncos. Banded 31 birds (listed below) and recaught 16 that had been banded
in recent days:

Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1

Hermit Thrush 3

Orange-crowned Warbler 2

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Myrtle 2

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon 3

Yellow-rumped Warbler, Unidentified 1 (partially yellow throat; "myrtle"
face pattern)

Townsend's Warbler 1 (Late? First since 9/16)

Chipping Sparrow 1 (Last year we banded over 400, probably fewer
than 40 this year, and this was the first since 9/22)

Song Sparrow 1

White-crowned Sparrow, Gambel's 9

Dark-eyed Junco, Slate-colored 2

Dark-eyed Junco, Oregon 1

Dark-eyed Junco, Pink-sided 2

Dark-eyed Junco, White-winged 1 (First since 2008, and a
beauty)

House Sparrow 1

Closed tomorrow (Thurs, 10/11), open Fri (for a special DMNS broadcast into
classrooms), then open both Sat and Sun. We will take the station down
after banding on Sun.
