Arapahoe County: --A GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW was reported by Hudak at Centennial Park on October 10. It was at the S end of oxbow lake which is off the N side of the big lake N of the covered picnic area. Centennial Park is at 4630 S. Decataur, Englewood. It is off W Union between S Federal and S Santa Fe Drive. Baca County: --At Two Buttes below the dam on October 11, Leatherman reported Winter Wren, Eastern Phoebe, and heard a Northern Cardinal. Bent County: --At Tempel Grove on October 12, Leatherman reported Winter Wren, Carolina, Wren, 3 White-throated Sparrows, imm Harris's Sparrow, BLUE-HEADED VIREO, Nashville Warbler, and 2 Eastern Phoebe. --At Tempel Grove on October 14, Mlodinow reported a Winter Wren. Boulder County: --A Red-necked Grebe was reported by Deininger at McIntosh Lake in Longmont on October 7. Mlodinow refound the Red-necked Grebe on October 13. --At Panama Reservoir on October 13, Mlodinow reported White-throated Sparrow. Boulder/Broomfield Counties: --At Stearns Lake, Zorawowicz reported a Harris's Sparrow on October 16. El Paso County: --A 1st winter tan-striped White-throated Sparrow was reported by Pals at Fountain Creek Nature Center feeders on October 12. El Paso/Pueblo Counties: --At Chico Basin Ranch (fee area) on October 16, Bill Maynard reported Harris's Sparrow and White-throated Sparrow on the El Paso side and Rose-breasted Grosbeak at HQ and SEDGE WREN at Upper Twin Pond. Fremont County: --At Florence River Park on October 13, Peterson reported 2 White-throated Sparrows. --At Holcim Wetlands on October 13, Peterson reported 3 Rusty Blackbirds. --A Black-and-white Warbler and Magnolia Warbler were reported by Rich Miller on the Canon City Riverwalk on October 14. --An imm YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was reported by Moss at Veteran's Park in Canon City on October 15. --A Black Phoebe was reported by Moss on the Bluff Trail in Canon City on October 15. --An ad m YELLOW-BELLLIED SAPSUCKER was reported by Moss at the Abbey in Canon City on October 16. Take the road to the left as you enter to the DOC bldg. It was in elm in trees S of the bldg. Kit Carson County: --At Flager SWA on October 12, Walbek reported Wood Thrush, f EASTERN TOWHEE, and 5-6 White-throated Sparrows. --At Flager SWA on October 14, Mlodinow reported Wood Thrush S of reservoir; 2 f Black-throated Blue Warblers, Winter Wren, and below the dam 8 White-throated Sparrows and 2 Harris's Sparrows. --At Flager SWA on October 16, Gillilan reported 1st winter Harris's Sparrow, 2 White-throated Sparrows and Red-bellied Woodpecker. Morgan County: --On October 12, Wilberding reported that American Golden-Plovers continue at Jackson Lake SP. --At Andrick Ponds SWA on CR 2 on October 14, Tina Jones reported an imm Harris's Sparrow. Prowers County: --At Riverside Cemetery in Lamar on October 12, Leatherman reported Eastern Phoebe and Nashville Warbler. --A Nashville Warbler was reported by Leatherman at Lamar Community College Woods on October 12. --A White-winged Dove was reported by Leatherman on 1st St in Lamar, N of Willow Creek Park on October 12. --A Swamp Sparrow was reported by Leatherman by the Arkansas River E of Lamar at CR 13. --A Harris's Sparrow was reported by Mlodinow at Lamar Community College Woods on October 14. Pueblo County: --A probable PACIFIC WREN was reported by Percival W of Valco Ponds Parking Lot on October 12. --At Osprey Picnic Area in Rock Canyon on October 14, Percival reported Black-throated Green Warbler and Yellow-throated Warbler. --Percival reported that the Yellow-throated Warbler continues at the for eastern part of the Osprey Picnic Area on October 15. Around 11 am it was seen taking a bath in the Arkansas River. Washington County: --At Last Chance on October 12, Roller reported a probable YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER. --At Last Chance on October 13, Mark Miller reported YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, Fox Sparrow and White-throated Sparrow. Weld County: --3-5 White-throated Sparrows were reported by Righter at Crow Valley CG on October 12. The DFO Field trip for Saturday, October 20th will be to Jackson and Prewitt Reservoirs led by Chris Owens (303-772-6048) or [email protected]. Meet the leader at 0700 at the Park-N-Ride on the SW corner of Hwy 287 and Niwot Road. This is approximately 1 mile north of the intersection of Hwy 287 and Hwy 52. Participants will need an Annual SWA permit per person and a State Parks Pass. This will be a full day trip so be sure to bring lunch, snacks, water, good walking shoes, and appropriate clothing for what weather is forecast. THE DFO Field Trip for Sunday, October 21st will be to Barr Lake SP - North Side led by Chuck Hundertmark (303-604-0531). Meet the leader at the parking lot at the south end of Lark Bunting Lane at 0800. Note: This is NOT the ususal Barr Lake SP meeting place. From Bromley Lane/E 152nd Ave, exit of I-76, drive east on E 152 Ave, across the railroad tracks and take an immediate right onto Lark Bunting Lane. State Parks pass or admission fee required. Will bird area around RMBO's headquarters and the fields and ditches below the dam. Bring water, snacks, and binoculars. Scopes optional. Half day trip.
