Hi Cobirders, Yesterday I had a Red-shafted Flicker come to my Thistle feeder twice and actually seemed to eat some seeds stayed awhile. It tried to get sunflower seeds from the caged feeder hanging at the patio but could not get any seed .

A week ago a Downy Woodpecker seemed to get some seed at the thistle feeder.

I think there may be no insects or even larva available due to drought. I did see Flickers a year ago eat seed on the drum feeder when ground was covered with snow.

I saw a Robin in the front yard Yesterday also. Not seen one here for over a month. Did not stay long.

The number of Redwing Blackbirds roosting next door on the dead trees has doubled to about 200.

Snow we had was less than a inch earlier in the week and is all gone today.

Winter starts Dec. 23rd Wed,

Bob Spencer N.E. of Golden
