Jeanne and I would like to thank Judy Carrier and Karen Martin for posting their Varied Thrush to cobirds.
We got there a little before noon and met Will Burt and Barbara Isaacs scanning the many feeders. Within 20 minutes, the thrush - an adult male - made its appearance. We had great looks and it returned twice before we left. This was our 349th species for 2012 in Colorado. What seemed to be out of reach just a few weeks ago is now just one species away. Can we get one more in the final two weeks of the year? Wow, that would sure be fun! We must thank all the folks who have helped us by posting on cobirds and eBird and calling us about sightings. Also, all the birders who gave us tips and IDs during bird walks and bird counts. It has been an amazing undertaking. We drove back on CO 67 through Deckers and Woodland Park and we agreed that the scenery is unmatched. In the Platte River we saw American Dippers and Mallards. Along the road we saw Juncos, Turkeys, and Townsend's Solitaires. Good birding, everyone!
