We had one Black Rosy-Finch at our feeders this morning, in deep snow. It was here for about a half hour before disappearing. It was accompanied by a Gray-crowned (brown-cheeked race) Rosy-Finch, which disappeared with it. Nancy and I got reasonably good photos of both out the window. The Black Rosy-Finch is a first for our yard list here at 8000 feet 35 miles NW of Fort Collins. We have had Gray-crowned in winter storms a few times since we moved here in 2007.
