I went out to my garden today. Then 15 minutes later, I went out again. A thin jute string that hadn't been there before, was hanging over the garden gate, with the wrapper it came from loose on the ground. I followed the string over 100'. It went on the ground, up through a lilac, then through a small, spare tree, and finally to a large cottonwood. It went around the cottonwood in jagged form, up about 30', and I saw the end of it hanging over a branch. Quite unbelievable. Now that is an empty nester. I realize this is the posting of a "cute" story that was just being debated on cobirds...but it deserves to be told and I'm here to do it.
