This weekend my wife Heather and I ventured to Denver to visit family and try our birding luck at Chatfield SP. Our best birds on Saturday were two Red-eyed Vireos (one quite vocal) on the Plum Creek Trail at Chatfield and a singing male Indigo Bunting at Roxborough State Park near the visitor center on the trail to the Fountain Valley Overlook. On Sunday we traveled home to Durango via Big Johnson Reservoir. The Laughing Gull and Pacific Loon were both present at about 10:00 AM. We did not see the Lesser Black-backed Gull but gulls were flying to and from the lake the whole time we were there and our time was limited.
