Hello, Birders. The birding was wonderful early (very early) this morning, Tuesday, July 16th, at Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County. I listened from around 2:30 until the beginning of nautical dawn at around 4:30. Birds heard were:
1 Upland Sandpiper migrating over at 3:44 a.m. 1 Chipping Sparrow migrating over at 4:03 a.m. 1 Sora singing off and on 1 Barn Owl that called just once 1 female Great Horned Owl 1 disgruntled-sounding Great Blue Heron night-singing Barn Swallows twittering high above in the starry sky coyotes, bullfrogs, train whistles, overnight construction, and people quarreling At some point, the temperature slipped below the dew point. Probably not so great for the laptop and recorder, but it was a magical night.
