No dice on the Curlew Sandpiper today at Jackson Lake. Of note were: 1 American Golden Plover 1 Pectoral Sandpiper 1 Dowitcher Several Wilson's Phalaropes Several Lesser Yellowlegs 2 Am. Avocets, already in full winter plumage Franklin's Gulls 20+ White Pelicans Scads of Baird's Sandpipers 1 large herd of Longhorn Cattle, which are presumably dangerous. They were just standing there by the lakeshore, so we walked past them, giving a wide berth, to go on and find the Golden Plover. Except, on the way back, they had spread out to cover our return route, and eyed us most threateningly when we tried to find ways past them, which they denied. Finally wound up taking shoes off and wading well out into the lake to make it back to the car. The things we'll do for a bird.... Dave Cameron Denver
