No, I did not see a Ptarmigan, yet I spent 4 hours on Mt Evans and 5 hours in RMNP seeking out these ptundra pturkeys over the long weekend. It reminds me of chasing Snowy Owls or Great Grey Owls in MN, you can feel their eyes upon you, but you cannot see them...But I did see a Pine Marten in the building ruins atop Mt Evans from 6 feet away, pretty special, and I did have some great company on my forays with my wife and son. I I had a great time...I had better just suck it up, I guess.
