Cathy Sheeter mentioned in her post about Jackson Res and other sites, having
seen two Sabine's Gulls at Loloff Res (Weld). I should point out the first one
was cleverly picked out of the over 800 Franklin's Gulls present by David Hill.
While looking at that black-headed beauty with a yellow-tipped bill, Janet
Shin, Cynthia Madsen and I spotted the second one with a slightly grayer,
grizzled hood. I would call the second bird also an adult that was a little
further along in molting to basic than the other one. Somebody named Steve
would have probably found a Laughing Gull hiding in that mass of black, gray,
and white larids but my eyes were too filled with sweat mixed with sunscreen to
pull it off. I'm glad the Broncos played at night. Peyton's vision was
obviously clear!
