Hi all, I saw an adult Sabine's Gull at Pueblo Reservoir this morning. It was out from North Picnic Road at first, later Margie Joy and I saw it way out from Sailboard launching area, looking south across the lake. There were Black Terns and a few "sterna" terns that were too far out to tell (probably Forster's and/or Common Terns).
Below the dam, near Snakeskin Picnic Area, I saw one Townsend's Warbler, a Cassin's Vireo, a Plumbeous Vireo, and two White-winged Doves (one young bird, with an adult). The Osprey Picnic Area was very birdy, five Townsend's Warblers at least, two Eastern Phoebes, two hybrid Eastern x Black Phoebes), Red-breasted Nuthatch, Warbling Vireo, a few Western Wood-Pewees, among other birds. Yellow-rumped Warblers, Ruby-crowned Kinglets, White-crowned Sparrows are seem to have arrived in good numbers. Other warblers today, were a few Yellow Warblers and an Orange-crowned Warbler. There was a Western Scrub-Jay in my yard, in Pueblo West this morning. Interestingly, there was also one up at 9,050 feet in the Wet Mountains, in Custer County yesterday (19 Sept). Hopefully tomorrow is birdy for the Pueblo County Fall Bird Count.
